Does anyone else think that Kate Middleton's wedding dress was a little dull?

Kate is a few years older than Princess Di was and maybe more sophisticated. But for this occasion, I think the dress needed more flair. She built up suspense by keeping the dress and designer a secret and then give us a simple gown.

Looking back at Princess Di's wedding, the overall impact of her dress was unforgettable.

No. I thought Catherine's dress was perfect.

No, I thought it was perfect. Just right.

It was somewhat reminiscent of Grace Kelly's dress in my opinion.

I also loved the veil and tiara.

Diana's dress was a horror.

I really liked it. No matter what she chose, there would be criticism. Had it been less "dull", others would have harped about it being too showy. She's doomed regardless of her choices because all of us non-princess princesses will be flapping our lips about whatever she does.

I.don't.care.

Don't care but her makeup was much overdone.

It was a nice dress. Daring (neckline) yet conservative (covered shoulders and long sleeves). Plus, after Diana, how is she supposed to compete in the over-the-top dress category? Smart move to go her own direction.

Simple = elegant and modern

I thought the mother of the bride looked lovely, too.

Yes, I hated it. Matronly and ugly. Di's dress was spectacular at the time. I can see why Kate didn't want to risk looking dated at some point (and I admit that Di's dress looks dated) but she didn't have to go with plain and ugly either.

Looking back on Diana's dress I remember how horribly wrinkled it was when she got out of the coach.

Kate's dress was elegant.

I thought the dress was simply terrific.

I thought it was very pretty. I was wondering how she would be able to look chic yet traditional at the same time and I think she accomplished that BUT I was hoping for more drama since she's a princess after all. At least a super long veil and train? I also thought the hair and veil were very modest and simple. Not sure what I was expecting but definitely not as glamorous as I'm used to seeing in weddings of American celebrities or those reality bridal shows.

I loved the dress but the veil was a bit limp, like too close to her head or something.

I thought her dress was perfect. She was required to cover her arms and shoulders and I love that she did it with lace so you could still see a little skin. Plus, the neckline was flattering and I thought it was quite sweet she was wearing the Queen's tiara.

For those that thought it was terrible, what did you want to see?

I loved it. I was also thinking Grace Kelly-ish. She was going to be compared to Diana no matter what, so she did the right thing by not trying to outdo her in sheer yardage. I though Diana's dress was awful at the time, and I think it is awful now. Like a huge floating meringue, not at all flattering. Kate's dress was classic, elegant, timeless and very stylish.
