If someone is eating well and exercising what is a reasonable amount of time to plan on losing the weight? Is it something that can be done like 5 or 10 pounds a month or do you really only lose like 3 pounds a month?
If you've lost a significant amount of weight how long did it take you? |
I think you can do 5-7 lbs a month the way you mentioned. |
The real answer is it takes as long as it takes.
I lost 50 lbs in about 10 months. I did WW meetings. A healthy rate of loss is 1-2 lbs a week, maybe a bit faster initially, and it generally slows WAY down as you get closer to a healthy weight. Don't box yourself in to a time frame. Set small, reasonable weight goals and reward yourself-not with food!-when you meet them. Good luck! |
1-2 lbs per week is realistic and considered healthy. I lost 30 lbs at that rate through a combination of Weight Watchers and exercise. So for the amount you want to lose, maybe 6 months to one year. |
I lost 45 lbs and it took me about ten months. The last 5-10 pounds took the longest to come off. The first few months I practically dropped a size each month. |
6 months |
What did you guys do to lose the weight? Was it baby weight or just extra weight you had gained? Diet & exercise? |
Six months, feeling healthy and toned.

Are you a woman? Any health or thyroid issues?
1-2 lbs/wk if your answers were yes, no. |
4+ mo. did it twice. but i'm a men. |
It took me a year...I don't exercise. |
I lost 65 pounds on weight watchers. 1-2 pounds a week for the most part, but the last weeks I'd be lucky to get 1/2 pound off. |
I'm a woman and I have a slow thyroid. Will that make it more difficult? |
Yes, thyroid problems can slow weight loss if it is not being treated successfully. |
I lost 75 lbs on WW. Took 2 years. The first 50 took about a year, but it really slowed after that and was tough. |
