What is it about the Pioneer Woman that annoys me so much?

People can write shit about her, leave crappy comments, and she never ever does that thing many bloggers do where they get defensive and then write posts that basically only respond to criticisms. She has about 10 topics she writes about and she ONLY writes about those topics but somehow, the site keeps chugging along year after year on stories of Charlie, the calves, her kids getting bigger, Ree's pants not fitting, and MM's butt. She never discusses her real life or anything of substance yet she's built an empire. So good for her!

That being said, she's a millionaire who poses as a folksy down home gal. She was rich before the site took off and is even richer now. (Again, I don't begrudge her that, and I think she's a great role model for her daughters in that she built something of her own even though her husband's family is loaded and she didn't need the money/work.) Her recipes are gross and almost all are cribbed from church cookbooks from the 80s. She is not a personality who translates well to tv so she comes off as stiff and awkward. She seems to have a strict script that she has to stick to no matter what because she can't deviate and go with the flow and riff and joke easily.

Her schtick is dated and corny, which is also why it's not going to appeal to many of us, but to the large chunk of the country who uses Pinterest for dinner ideas and thinks casseroles/Crock Pot meals using 4 cans of soup and cheese is a reasonable dinner, she's very appealing and relatable.

Her stuff at Walmart is absolutely hideous IMO, but it's a rip-off Anthropologie aesthetic at Walmart prices which is what her target audience can afford and access. So again, smart lady with the way she chooses to diversify her businesses.

I agree with all of this. Admirable as a businesswoman, but her food is yuck and show is unwatchable.

It's easy to be a "businesswomen" when you married into a dynasty. None of the popularity or founding is organic. The husband's dough bankrolled it.

I'm intrigued by the bitter edges in some of the posts from the people who don't like Ree Drummond. I haven't watched her show in years but did read her blog in the early days. I don't recall her ever pretending to be something she isn't. She was always upfront about being the daughter of a surgeon in a small town in Oklahoma who went to LA for college and envisioned a different life before ending back in Oklahoma. Where she met her husband. Her family was comfortably off, his family was the local rich ranching family. It's not surprising they should hit it off.

I don't cook her food but I can see why people like her. She gives off vibes that are appealing to aspirational middle America.

“Met” or targeted because they’re one of the richest families in Oklahoma?

Rich men still want to get married and have kids. The story of a rich man marrying a nicely mannered upper middle class girl is as old as time. And last I checked she and her husband have been married for decades and have a large family. It's obviously working....

Really, why are some of you so bitter about Ree Drummond? It's the worst of spiteful and nasty gossiping. Don't like her voice or style of cooking? Don't watch her. It's that simple. I don't even watch her but I'm not foolish to make up a bunch of unfounded accusations.

She's a racist.

I hate her show.

At first I liked her show. Then I saw some of her episodes with her "accents" no not acceptable period.

NP. Can you link to the racist stuff? I hadn’t heard about that, or anything about accents

Plus her recipes all suck?

How many of her recipes have you made? I can guarantee that they don't all "suck".

She's racist? My, fancy that!

Someone just made up a fake allegation with no merit or anything else to back it up

It's amazing the hatred some successful women get. And her crime is to serve up rich cheesy food!
