Thank you so much. I have been doing a lot of research and found evidence that I can switch some of the meds around. I can email you or if you prefer, please email me at: hollydaly123 at yahoo dot com. You are so special for helping to give me hope! And thank you everyone else for providing these other resources! I will get hopping on these sites tonight! |
This is where I bought my meds!
http://freegaragesale.ca/meds.htm People selling their left overs for less than half the price. |
In order to afford our IVF cycle/meds, we ended up getting a healthcare loan from Capital One - this was a coupleyears ago, but our clinic had tld us about it. Of course, we're still paying off the loan, but with ahealthy 2-year-old, I don't mind! Jut another option if discount meds don't work out....
Oh, and one other thing - I had no fertility coverage at all, but discovered by happy accident that some of the medications were covered by my insurance because they have other uses. (When the pharmacy submitted them all at once, they were denied, but when filled one by one, a couple were reimbursed.) Check your plan and see if anything might be covered... Last, check with the medicine manufacturer or pharmacy for discount programs - when I went thru my cycle, Freedom Fertility (where I bought my meds) had a free program where you'd get a discount on your 2nd try... |
Looking to purchase left over fertility drugs for my future IVF cycle. So far my husband and i have spent over $5,000.00 out of our pocket, using credit cards. I was using the follistim shots and no luck....Now, we took out a loan to cover our first IVF cyle...Did not realize that the medications were not included.... Not much money left....Please let me know if you have any ideas??? |
I am also interested in any leftover fert meds for donation or possibly sale (depending on price). I am totally out of pocket for IVF cycles and meds. My most recent cycle ended up positive, but I miscarried at 8 weeks. I don't feel I can walk away now with these results, despite the financial hardship, and am hoping to cycle again soon with success again. I use Gonal-f, Menopur and Ganirelix. Any assistance is appreciated. Email me at grnhaus1@hotmail.com. |
I second trying the Infertility board on The Bump. If you dont see the post about donated meds, just post a question asking for the email address of the person who keeps the list, and someone will respond. |
Do you have to be a registered member of the The Bump to receive the meds? I saw the post, but was curious if preference is given for active members of the board. TIA. |

I had heard that the pharmaceutical companies have a program that if your insurance does not cover the drugs and you cannot pay out of pocket, that they have this discount program and you can buy the drugs for about 40-50% off. It is still pretty expensive, but it may make the difference for some people... Ask your pharmacist. The lady who told me about this program was from Prosperity Specialty Pharmacy in Fairfax, VA. |
Is it legal/safe to use drugs donated by random strangers? |
.... clearly you've never paid OOP for fertility meds because you'd know that they're expensive and people get desperate. I know that I did. I used meds that were donated by people that I never knew or met and some were even provided to me from my RE. I'm forever grateful for the kindness of random strangers that provided me the meds that helped create my daughter. Forever grateful. PP, if I had leftovers I'd donate them. I'm so sorry ... good luck and I hope you find the meds you need. Please ask your RE's nurse. |
I am also in a similar situation![]() |
I have three unopened Gonal-F pens of 900IU each. They've been continuously refrigerated and don't expire until 8/11. We've moved on to donor eggs and definitely won't be using them. Does anyone here still need Gonal-F? |
If you have left over drugs, the best thing to do is return them to your RE to be donated. If you give your drugs to a random person who is not under a doctor's care, that is sharing a prescription. Sharing a prescription drug with someone is ILLEGAL and you can be prosecuted. It's also not morally responsible because you have no idea what other drugs the recipient might be taking which can counteract with the drug you've provided. Drug interactions can often be very serious and sometimes fatal. Don't do this unless you are willing to risk everything! |
The reality is that women seeking fertility meds have a script for that drug, are under a RE's care, and are looking for a cost effective means of cycling. If IF coverage would become universal in this country, then people wouldn't need to seek meds in a more cost effective manner in order to fulfill their dreams of having a family. |
