Finishing expectation during renovation

Definitely speak up. I know it's hard as you get to the finish line and you want them to finish, but you're going to see it every day and it will annoy you. You're paying a lot of money - they should do it right.

If you have to stand there and make sure it's done right, it's worth it.

Nothing will ever be absolutely perfect. You’ll
have to live with small things or fix them yourself.
I just had a 100K renovation done at my house.
Some things exceeded my expectation others did not.
Don’t focus on the little things only you notice. Look at
the job in its entirety. Did he do more good than bad ?
I am a perfectionist so I understand your pain. However,
being a perfectionist is a character flaw in my opinion.

^possibly written by a contractor.

What is the level of finish that you and the contractor agreed on? If you agreed on a mediocre finish, then you cannot expect things to be perfect.

However, if you emphasized a high quality finish since the beginning, then you should expect that.
