do i need a baseline mammogram before ttc at 39 yo?

| Surprised at the PPs who couldn’t get mammograms while BFing, that is definitely not the standard of care. I did the pump right before thing while DD was 9 months and I had recurrent mastitis/plugged duct in the same spot that my OB wanted checked out. Mamma and u/s and both worked fine. |

| ^^ FwIW I had it at Washington Radiology Associates which I feel like is the biggest player in this area and takes most insurance. |

| I would do it, with the caveat that you might have to pay in full (your insurance may not cover it since you aren't 40 yet). I have had a (diagnostic, not screening) mammogram while breastfeeding and it's so much more painful and uncomfortable compared to the one I had after breastfeeding was complete. I would do it now and then postpone a second screening mammogram until breastfeeding is complete. |
