I have the BLK DNM Leather Jacket 1 and it's amazing. It's excellent quality and looks great with anything, if she's got an edgy style. |
Not the OP, but I love your suggestions! |
| To the publicist PP: can you give some suggestions for me, a 37 year old stay at home Mom of 3 young kids? I used to be a lawyer but I don't work now, although occasionally I will attend meetings, talks, lunches. I have the hardest time finding bags. I'm currently looking for a tote that's not a neverfull or a goyard St. Louis. My style is simple. Lots of navy and black in simple silhouettes. I don't wear a lot of patterns. I wear a lot of theory dresses and am currently carrying around an issey miyake Bao Bao tote. I'd like to add a few more bags and could really use some suggestions! I'm ok with any price point but would appreciate suggestions within a range of price points. I've looked at all the popular bags like the Phillip Lim pashli - too heavy and busy- Alexander Wang bags seem a little too much with the hardware in the new designs. I don't think I can pull off the ubiquitous Chanel bag either. I've looked at Celine and don't feel the bags are worth the price. Any thoughts? Thanks so much in advance! |
Not this PP, but if she doesn't care about the brand, Sam Edelman has a similar model at a fraction of the price: https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/806173/sam_edelman/leya-pompom-embellished-suede-slip-on-sneakers |
Publicist PP here. The reason I didn't recommend the Edelman ones is because they are terribly uncomfortable. If comfort matters, and I'm pretty certain it does, don't bother with the Sam Edelman pair. |
Publicist PP here. Give me 24 hours and I'll give you a list of suggestions! |
Thank you so much! If they exist, can you suggest bags in the 100-200 range that I can throw around without feeling bad, as well as higher end bags for meetings and going out? |
I'll see what I can find in that lower range - I think there are a few that I've seen, so I'll check again - and I'll def find some for meetings and going out. Also, for everyone asking me for recommendations - I'm not recommending anything blindly. Either the products I'm recommending have come across my desk and I've personally tested them or I've had my clients test them out. So you're getting items that I know stand up to use and are truly quality products. I won't ever recommend anything that I personally won't wear or use. |
| Publicist PP, where have you been all my life? You might just become the most popular poster on this board, rapidly. |
| Publicist PP, you're great! Can you do an AMA? |
I'm glad you find my posts helpful! I know how hard it can be to shop for others and even how hard it can be to find cute stuff for yourself, so I'm always happy to share any info / advice / tips that I have to make it easier for all of you! Please don't hesitate to ask. Just give me 24 hours or so to get back to you on it
|
I think I can arrange to make that happen at some point after the holidays! I'll need a bit of a mental break during the upcoming awards season and an AMA will be a fun distraction. I'll keep you all posted! |
Just bumping this thread to get some bag recommendations.

Publicist PP here. Because I told you I'd help out with this, I'm going to keeping my promise, but this will be the last of my advice here on DCUM, thanks to the negative posts on the other thread. (Those posts have now been deleted in case you go look and they aren't there, thanks Jeff) I hope this helps you out in your search for a bag
Totes in the $100 - $200(ish) range: - Liebeskind Berlin Diva Bag (on sale for $216.00 at Bluefly) This is one of my favorite bags that, as you mentioned, you can throw around without feeling bad. It's a quality bag so it's very durable, but with the sale on it right now, it's not a bag that you have to worry about treating delicately. It's available in grey, peach, and black, so you can pick the color that'll get the most use based on the colors you typically wear. This is also the ONLY decent, worthwhile bag I could find in this price range. Other Totes (in alphabetical order): - Balenciaga Bazar Shopper S ($1265.00) Great tote / crossbody combo that will have a long life because the quality is exceptional. I love the blue color but it's also available in black. - Balenciaga Classic Metallic Edge Velo ($2125.00) This is another tote / crossbody combo from Balenciaga that is roomy as hell and perfect for meetings and talks where you want to throw in a journal and ipad and a few other items. I'd get this one in the Gris Glacé color, although it's also available in black. - Balenciaga Classic Silver Velo ($1835.00) Yep, another tote / crossbody combo. This one is a little edgier in look so it adds a little punch to an otherwise simple / subdued wardrobe. Just a very cool bag overall and a great price. The Gris Fossile color is very versatile and won't show any signs of wear so it's incredibly versatile. - Céline Small Cabas in Storm Grained Calfskin ($1300.00) One of my favorite of the fall bags from Céline and worth every penny because the quality is incredible. - Chloé Milo Tote ($1250.00) This bag was so hot for F/W that it immediately sold out through Chloé. I found it in the Cloudy Blue color at Nordstrom, as a pre-order, but it won't stay in stock very long, and once it's gone - it's gone. I love the contrast between the leather and suede sections and it's a great, roomy bag. - Christian Louboutin Paloma Large Tote ($2490.00) I love the color contrast between the straps and the bag itself, and then the subtle studs on the sides. Very unique bag. - Dagne Dover Charlie Tote ($495.00) This would be one of my top recommendations for a true everyday tote bag. The quality is incredible, the size is right (fits my laptop), and the workmanship is top notch. I can't say enough good things about this bag. I also wholeheartedly recommend the 15" tote they carry. - Everlane The Casual Petra ($285.00) This would be another one of my top recommendations for an everyday tote at a price that you don't really have to worry about. While it doesn't have any pockets inside, it *is* roomy and you're getting stellar quality for an absolute steal of a price. - Everlane The Petra Magazine ($325.00) Another top of the line bag from Everlane. This one has pockets on the inside and the Cypress color is incredible. As is the white. - Fendi Regular 2Jours ($2350.00) A simple but classic bag by Fendi that will last you a lifetime. This is perfect for the meetings and talks you mentioned and it won't draw attention by being too flashy as it's so subdued. But excellent craftsmanship so it'll be a bag you have forever. - Givenchy Debossed Tote ($!590.00) A simple, subdued tote from Givenchy in their soft and supple Calfskin leather. I had this bag on my to-buy list, and as I'm suggesting it for you, I'm also buying it for myself. - Jérôme Dreyfuss Maurice Tote ($1090.00) Sweet and simple grey leather tote with adjustable handles and just a touch of fun through the zig zag pattern on the front. A relatively unknown designer so you won't have to worry about anyone else in DC having this same tote. - Jérôme Dreyfuss Dario Tote ($720.00) The grommets are what make this bag for me. Straight down the center to make an otherwise classic bag have a touch of edge. And again, I don't think anyone else in this town will have the same bag as you, and I know people will ask about it! - Lanvin Medium Studded Leather Tote Bag w/ Fringe ($1850.00 w/ a 20% off Friends + Family deal through Neimans) A simple, classic tote but the studs give it a little fun and edge, making it interesting. If the size works for you, it's an excellent bag. - Loewe Asymmetric Large Bag ($1365.00 from $1950.00) Simple, classic tote, with a unique asymmetric twist to give it a little oomph. I love the leather they use - you just want to touch it all day. And this is an excellent deal on a terrific bag. - Loewe Flamenco Knot Bag ($1950.00) Another Loewe bag, another great tote, but I just *love* the knot pulls on this bag. They give the bag that unique touch that literally no other bag has. - Maison Margiela 5AC Large Textured-Leather Tote ($1797.00 from $2995.00) I have this bag and I paid full price for it, and I'd pay full price for it again and again because it is such an incredible bag. For some reason, a lot of people don't think of Margiela when it comes to bags, but one of my clients introduced me to the brand years ago and a majority of my most beloved bags, shoes, and clothes are now by Margiela. I'm really thinking about buying a second one just to have as a backup because I love this bag so much. - Marni Runway Maxi Strap Bag in Tumbled Calfskin ($2160.00) Marni is such an underrated brand and I'll never understand why. They make excellent bags, like this, and I just love the thick strap on this model in particular. I also love the way the bag folds / slouches. - Sophie Hulme Coral Red Albion Square Tote ($765.00) Every girl needs one fun, bright, happy tote in her life, and for me, it's a Sophie Hulme. This color is my favorite, but once you click the link, you can view all the different colors. These bags will be a great contrast to your everyday wardrobe colors and will give a pop of sunshine to your daily look. - Stella McCartney Light Grey Falabella Shaggy Deer Big Tote ($1295.00) The hardware edge of this bag is my favorite detail on any bag. It has an inside zipper pocket and a pouch with a chain, and it's lined, making it very durable for whatever you throw in there. And the price can't be beat. - Tom Ford Serena Large Leather Tote Bag ($1462.00 from $1950.00) You have to look at the picture of this bag from the side to get a feel for its shape. In my opinion, it's an excellent work tote, because it's not flashy but it's very high quality and incredibly roomy. I also love that the top of this tote isn't open so everything inside is protected. |
| Publicist pp -- I'm not the one who requested bags but those are incredible!!! I am coveting the Chloe bag but I'm the poster who is buying the Alhambra and I can't buy an expensive necklace and a $1,200+ purse at the same time, lol. I am so sorry that the other thread turned so negative and I am glad that Jeff deleted those posts. I do want to thank you again for all of the wonderful advice and wish you merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year as that is more important than any material goods. Please do not let what one person said bother you. The rest of us have thoroughly enjoyed all of your posts. |
