I've done WDW twice and a week cruise the last 3 years (with two kids who are now 6 and 4) and would definitely recommend the cruise. WDW is a lot of work, planning and long lines. Cruise is much more relaxing (even if the 2 year old can't do the Kids Club-- our younger DS couldn't but there was so much to do on the ship/excursions it wasn't a big deal). And don't worry about the pool situation-- there were two water spray areas and a wading pool that both kids loved.

| Do both: 4 day cruise + 3 nights at the parks. |
+ 1 I'm pretty sure that the people who do the short 4 night cruise to the Bahamas (Castaway Cay) usually do both. They certainly market it that way, anyway. |
Not us. After cruising, we really have zero interest in dealing with crowds, lines, and the crazy schedules and planning required at the parks. We think the 4 night cruise is plenty--especially if piggybacked on a beach stay in Miami or the keys. The cruises are super fun and relaxing! Plenty to do, or you can opt to just chill. |
| Depends on the length. Don't bother going down for a 3-4 night Disney cruise. It goes too quickly! |
Disney in the summer isn't bad. Cruises are fun. |
Has your 12 yo been to Disney World? If not, and you think you can take the heat (we can) I'd take them to Orlando for a week and do 3-4 days Disney, 2-3 days Universal. To me, the two are completely different vacations and one is not a substitute for the other. |
| We've been to Disney 5x and Disney cruise twice. I would do a shorter cruise plus parks. I don't think I would want to go in the summer though. |
| Ditch Disney altogether and visit a national park or 2 or 3. |
Oh, FFS. |
