Neighborhood Kids shoveling snow for cash...... v. You are doing it all wrong

If they would have shown up in the morning, it would have made more sense. If I was one that didn't want to shovel, I'd ask how much to take care of my driveway/walk for the day.

I will never hire an illegal to shovel for me (or clean or mow the lawn) again! Tired of paying towards supporting them-they are here illegally (therefore criminals) and many commit other crimes as well. I will now hire the neighborhood kids or do it myself!

How do you know that they're illegal? Do you ask to see their papers?

There's a good chance that there illegals living in your neighborhood. They could live a few door down and you have no idea that they aren't here legally. What would you do if those illegal neighborhood kids come knocking with shovels in their hands?

Next time, let the kids know that if they come to your house earlier in the morning you'd be happy to pay them to clear your driveway. I'm sure they'll keep that in mind and make it to your house earlier. Also, since alot of high schoolers are getting up at 5:30/6:00am for school, on the snow days they are probably sleeping in and don't make it out to the houses until later. Can't blame them for that!

I see your point OP but yesterday on my third time out I was so tired that I would have paid them to finish the last bit if they offered a decent price. Especially after my neighbor blew their snow into my driveway

I saw a group of kids going down the street today laughing and talking while carrying shovels. Obviously they were going from place to place shoveling. I thought they were really awesome for being busy today, helping others and making their own money.
