Why would you want a kid that little left to cry at a swim class? OP seems a bit nuts. Wait for Summertime. |
BBB is a waste of time. Companies pay big $$ for A+ ratings. I feel that might have had misread the swim coach? Kids scream there all the time. Would they just ask people to leave? Just have fun in a pool in the summer. |
Anna is fantastic. She is really patient and kind to my child, who has made great strides after being terrified of water. |
We have had only bad experiences with British Swim School.
My kid loved water, but the stupidity of the instructors made him upset about swimming. It is a "cluster f***" as one pp mentioned. Bad instructors, over crowded, barely enough time to swim. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AUTOMATIC BILL PAYMENTS WITH THEM. They messed my payments a few times and it took me YEARS to get back my money. |
They are terrible and a pure rip-off. They were having lessons at the hotel swimming pool in Residence Inn, Falls Church and suddenly shut that location down after three lessons and took our money and refuse to refund not only for our daughters but also other families. They will pull a smart one under you. So please make sure you stay clear of this one. |
We are doing ISR (18mo) with Katie at the embassy suites in Bethesda. 100% recommend. She is very good with the kids and takes things slow. I was nervous but happy we did it. I personally am glad we did it once my DC could walk so that the skill set they learn includes swimming and not just floating. https://www.katiessavvyswimmers.com/ |
They messed up my child’s breathing technique with their flip over. The kids barely get any swim time. The county and city of Rockville are cheaper and better. |
Are the British suddenly a nation of swimmers? |
20 months seems like a perfectly reasonable age for a swim class. At that age, they're getting comfortable in the water and having fun, and the class is done with a parent.
And yes, they are sometimes terrified and cry. The point of the class is, in significant part, to help them overcome that fear. |
No, I’ve only tried STGC and ATRZ. We were thinking about FTRS or XERCC (STJC was too far away) but found we aligned better with the philosophy of DSAQE. |
My kid is now a competitive swimmer but oh man, I remember those British swim school days. The young instructor told him to swim a few laps while he chatted (flirted) with the girl on deck. He didn’t even look up at my kid, let alone help him improve his strokes the entire half hour. We did have another instructor who was so good but they cancelled practice so many times due to the water quality last minute, I couldn’t take it anymore. We also lost out on several lessons we paid for due to the pandemic. |
