Another Holiday Card Comment-I don't do them

In my humble opinion, if the Christmas card is not made of neutral ph, chlorine-free, hand-colored bordered European paper, hand-engraved by a master engraver, and hand-calligraphed by an Italian monk who makes his own ink, and if it doesn't regale me with tales of exotic adventures, I can't fathom why anyone would waste my time by sending it. I sometimes wonder how these Christmas card people became so entitled and self-centered.

I don't like the fancy cards with no personal message. Anyone with some money can send one, but not anyone can take the time to send a thoughtful message.

ok, some people have a little too much bitterness in life that they could get this steamed over greeting cards

I love when the cards include newsletters. As someone else mentioned, they are often unintentionally VERY funny. One of my cousins included a whole paragraph on natural family planning one year - my whole family got lots of chuckles about that content! Regardless, it is nice to hear what's going on in people's lives....especially when you don't talk to them that frequently.

I love the idea passed on by one of the PPs about including an old picture of the recipient in the card. How sweet (and personalized!) is that! Something I certainly don't have time for this year, but will keep in mind in the years ahead. If my mom actually sent Christmas cards, it is totally something she would do.

I like getting newsletters especially from friends that I only catch-up with 1x or 2x a year. Plus, it makes for juicy gossip around the dinner table. "Do you remember Perfect Mrs. X from back home? Well, she's divorced now!"

I agree! I send thank you note and photo cards of our family at Christmas...and I sign it "Merry Christmas" not Season's Greetings...I sure some of you will love that!

No. I send thank you cards.

I send thank you cards and not "season greetings" junk mail. A thank-you card contains a personal note (at least from me recognizing the actual gift). I see no purpose in sending 100 of my nearest and dearest friends junky holiday cards. I normally send hand written letters (gasp!) to both sets of grandparents, because they like real letters, and enclose a few pictures. That's it, but then again I do that all year round on a monthly basis, so holiday time is nothing new.

Sure...if it's from someone I know. As opposed to a pre-printed card from the president of my company.

I love receiving Christmas cards, and if I can ever get a good picture of my daughter in a Christmas outfit, I'll be sending them, too.

I like seeing the pictures of families/kids. So I enjoy getting the cards.

I like a personal message, but any card is good for me. Mail is fun after a cyber world all day every day.
