This. It is expected in our culture. It was weird at first but now I'm used to it. |
First name |
Mom or grandma |
Mom or he first name it just depends. Same with my fil. My husband calls my mom mom and my dad by his first name. All of our friends called my mom mom growing up. She always hugs everyone and tells them she loves them too |
First name. Refer to her in the third person as Nana to the kids. |
+1 I only have one mom. |
First name, although I wanted to call her Mrs.Jones. She felt it's important to inform me that she'll "never think of ber son's wife as her daugher" and her son "might get married more than once and she does not want to be called "mom" by all of these women". Sigh. |
Grandma mostly. First name the rest of the time. |
I try to avoid calling her anything directly. Very rarely, if i have to, I'll call her "mom." I often call her Grandma, bc the kids are around almost always. The other DIL calls her mom and the SIL avoids calling her anything. |
This. |
Wow, you should definitely call her Mommy Dearest. |
She wants to be called Mommy. I think not.
I'd call her by her first name, but that would offend her, so I avoid calling her anything, even though I'm around her a lot. I refer to her as Grandma when the kids are around. |
She desperately wants me to call her Mom. My mom died when I was a kid and I absolutely refuse to call her that. It caused a lot of problems when we were first married. She made up a ridiculous nickname for me to call her instead. I cringe every time I have to use it. I wish she'd just let me call her by her first name |
I call her by her first name, or "Nana" if there are grandkids around. |
Mom. |
