Highest LTV Home Equity Alternative to NFCU 95%?

Anonymous
Has anyone used Nasa or Transportation Credit Unions for a home equity loan of 95% LTV? Just wondering how difficult it is to get that amount and what the loan process was like.

I talked to Pentagon Credit Union and Energy Federal Credit Union and both seemed very conservative about the whole process. They would not go over 80% financing and were picky about my debt to income ratio. It's probably what all lenders should be.

We are FTHB and Pentagon was extremely conservative. They want 20% down, 6 months of mortgage payments and 3% of closing costs to qualify for their mortgage. While I understand that's what it 'should be', that's a lot of money to have on hand when you don't have any help living in this expensive city.

Thanks for the info in this thread. just started the process with Transportation FCU for the 100% home equity loan but I'm also considering a full refi, it will depend on the appraisal amount

What was the rate from transportation fcu?

Thanks OP for this thread and thanks for the info on Transportation FCU and NASA FCU. This just might save my mortgage refi as I could not find anyone local to do past 90% LTV.

For those that find this thread like I did, you can join either the Transportation FCU or NASA FCU by becoming a member of the American Consumer Council. Pretty cool!

Thanks,

DC

Any more feedback from anyone who's used Transportation FCU for a home loan, HELOC, refi, etc? I Have applied for a 100% LTV HELOC and the appraiser was just at my house the other day. The loan officer hasn't shared much with me about the process. I'm not sure what to expect next.

We just recently used NASA FCU for a home equity loan. Process was smooth. Appraisal came in a little lower than we thought it would though.

What was the amount? I had an issue that they would only do 100k max if you were about 85% LTV

Yes, we were capped at 100k. We needed more than that but took out a 0% credit card and paid some in cash.
