Senior Week in Ocean City: How heinously are your kids behaving?

None of my kids went to senior week. They never asked.

Drinking and driving - it's not as big of a concern because most of the kids are walking whether it's on the boardwalk or to other beach houses/hotels in the area. Also, in OC at least, they have the bus for free and it was packed last year with seniors.

This is what concerns me most about allowing DD to go!

This is my thinking. My biggest concern about drinking is drinking and driving. Events like this are somewhat of a positive since the kids aren't driving.

We had a home and condo at the beach. So beach week was something we avoided b/c we could go anytime.

I didn't grow up here, but my parents bribed me with a cash offer to skip a similar event. It worked. I'll do the same or offer a more exotic family trip.

I went to beach week. Had an endless week of sex with my boyfriend. Drank lots of wine coolers. Got the best tan. I remember it fondly to this day.

wow. that doesn't sound "tame" at ALL to me! i didn't do beach week - the proverbial immigrant parents who didn't get it and i didn't have any friends with beach houses.

If the shtick of beach week is ti be without parents, there are plenty of places to go to exercise independence without the threat of one thousand other troublesome teens.

The "shtick" IS being with a thousand other troublesome teens. For most kids a tame weekend at the lake with church friends just doesn't hold the same appeal. It sounds really nice to me, though.

See, that's my thinking on why I'd let my kids go. When will your life ever be that carefree again, especially if you have kidx now. It's a fun, cheap week of fun.

I would make them pay or at least co.tribute some money to it.

I never did beach week....didn't really have friends. Made up for it at 30 in New orleans during mardis gras.
