Which Job Would You Take?

PP here. It sounds like you want job 2. It doesn't make sense money being roughly equal to take a job you don't feel comfortable about the team. You can do more things to make up for a lack of training than you can do to address the backstabbing hyper competiveness with a smile in job 1.

For job 2, think of what things you can do be successful in a new field without a formal structure. Can you seek out a mentor? Can you improve your MicroSoft office skills so even if you don't know what to put in the spreadsheet or presentation yet once you get that info you are efficient using the tool. Have you found the twitter, linked in, message board etc forum for the field you are in.? If you got a degree in the field, do you keep in touch with classmates also entering the profession and maybe get together every six months? Would your new job be willing to send you to a conference at some point? Another people may have additional ideas.
