Boston University...Concerned about DS SAT scores

I don't understand: not including the writing scores. 1800 is above the math/verbal portion only.

OP here, you are correct, I was mistaken when I wrote that score, it did include everything, including writing.

As an alum, I can let you in on a secret. The school of education is always desperate to get guys. Have him apply to the education college and then transfer after his first year. The school of management, communications and engineering have the greatest number of applicants, so the competition is toughest for those spots.

I believe SAT is on the 1600 scale. This feels off.

NP here. In recent years, most colleges are 60/40 girls/boys - it is MUCH easier for women to be admitted, especially in STEM majors - there are more women admitted. Fewer boys are applying to college. You need to do your research.

(clarification, not sure if of those 60/40 women. men, most are STEM - I wrded the phrase incorrectly. But there definitely are more women admitted, and fewer men applying, on the whole).

BU's SAT's are a lot higher now than back then. What gives?

OP, go back and press your kid on why BU. I know it well. I don't get what they are so interested in. If they can articulate their reasons, then go find other universities with similar - whatevers - and go look at them too. A 17 year old has no idea what they really want

BU is a great school. Obviously it has become uber-selective. Not anything negative to say about it if you can afford the price tag.

No one seems to notice that OP posted 13 years ago??
