I think BBB tends to have higher end product lines & their staff are super-knowledgeable & helpful for big-ticket items like carseats, strollers, furniture. But b/c of the limited locations, we did also register at Target. Luckily, the Springfield BBB was pretty close for us (although there was a BRU somewhat closer)

SECONDED. Worth it for that reason alone.

I recommend registering at Target. Their stores are everywhere.

we registered at BRU and also signed up for the credit card. I think it's something like 10% off if you buy on a Thursday. Unrelated to the card is that they have a rewards card that you can accrue points and get essentially a gift certificate. So far from my registry I've received about $65 in the earnings that I've used to purchase other things I needed.

Regarding the PP who said they take the BBB coupons--this is correct, but I think only in markets where they are in competition. So if a city with BRU doesn't have a BBB store (baby, not bed/bath) then they don't honor the coupon. Also I am told the coupon has to be unexpired.

Target has the WORST return policy if you do not have a receipt. $25 annual limit. I could not return a $150 rug for credit that I purchased and they were not able to pull it up with my card. Just something to think about. You want a place with easy returns. They ahve been easy at BRU and BBB.

Buy Buy Baby has terrible return policy of items purchased from the baby registry. Even if you have a gift receipt they take 20% off each item returned. Babies R us are great when you need to return an item on your registry. Check into this before you register at Buy Buy Baby!

As a frequent baby shower attendee, I absolutely hate both stores and wouldn't buy gifts at either. I typically will find the gift on the registry, mark it as purchased and buy it off Amazon. The closest BBB to me is 45 minutes (in DC area!) and Babies R Us is just an awful, awful store.
