Shoes for babies with "thick" feet?

We go to Shoe Train too. I drive there from Herndon, VA and sometimes wait 2 hours to be seen, but sad to say, it is totally worth it. The nice young people at Stride Rite aren't nearly as knowledgeable as the attentive staff at Shoe Train. Last weekend, I waited for 2 hours with my 2 little kids and swore, I would never do this again. Then the nice gentleman helped me, brought out my cards from the last time I had been there, talked about how my dd's feet had changed since the last time I'd been there. They had written down every pair of shoes I had bought previously and spent time getting different shoes of shapes and sized and ensuring a proper fit. It was worth it. There is a Mc Donald's nearby in the same mall, and you can go eat there for awhile while you wait. Make sure to sign in at the front right when you get there.

Yikes -- 2 hours! Ramer's occasionally has a 15 min wait, but I wouldn't be able to wait for much more than that.

Weekends at Shoe Train are a nightmare. I suggest that you put your name on the list and then walk around the toy store or eat at McDonalds. The train table can only keep them busy for so long.

We waited 45 min at the end of Feb. It stressed me out but as the PP said, it's worth it.

If you wait for Ed (the owner) the wait could be up to 4 hours (no joke). I know him from when I was a kid getting shoes when it was in Seven Locks mini mall (where the Harris Teeter now is). However, I never wait for him. Really, anyone there is terrific. I have waited almost 2 hours on a really busy day. I've learned to go when they first open, during lunch or during the school day. And we do McD's and the toy store as well.

the title of this thread makes me smile. Long live babies and their thick feet!

Note: you can't get wide and XW at Nordstrom they don't sell them. Your best bet is either ordering online or going to Shoe Train for a proper fit. I think also Ramers (although I live in MOCO so I have only been to Shoe Train).

Not true. I bought XW Stride Rite shoes at Nordstroms (Pentagon City) 2 weeks ago. They had 3 styles to choose from in XW.

I'm the poster about Nordstrom not having XW or XXW. I went to the one in Montgomery Mall, they actually told me that none carry XW (and no XW at nordstrom rack either). Nice to know that at least one does.
