Choate or Loomis?

PP, cool. I believe Mom and I would have had a much better go of it had I lived away in grades 9-12! Also might have learned more in school, rather than investing energy in dodging parents and crafting trouble. By college all was even keel, appreciate the view point.

eah, what a terrible resolution that was -- suspending kids who brought a prohibited weapon (under STA rules and DC law) on campus; caused a lockdown that disrupted classes at STA, NCS, and Beauvoir; put the Secret Service in a tizzy; got arrested and taken away in handcuffs; and put STA in the news all over the world for the incident. I'm sure STA will have no applications this year because of how badly they "blew it.

Not sure your point of view. But my point is that it was a minor mistake that was blown out of proportion. School reacted to the reaction of the outside world instead of to the actual incident. Colleges got it right by accepting both kids and brushing off the incident.

I wouldn't say Loomis is more "artsy" than Choate. The Choate arts program is world-class. Alums include: Paul Giammatti, Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ali MacGraw, Bruce Dern, Edward Albee, screenwriter of film Precious, and countless others ... mostly housed in an amazing building designed by I.M. Pei.

Loomis is phenomenal. Incredible faculty, perfect campus, great location, athletics are second to none, kids place as well as any other NE Prep School (St. Pauls, Andover, Exeter). And the kids there are very well balanced. Loomis really is already superior to Choate and widening the gap every year.
