I'm a high school teacher who was going to retire this year, but I'm staying on to participate in the deferred retirement program that FCPS approved. Several colleagues are also doing it. It's only for the old people, though. |
4 leaving, 2 of whom are retiring. |
You’re disgusting |
It's not good...add in unkind admin and an unhappy office staff constantly making the days harder for teachers and there is simply nothing left to give. You can't take from an empty bucket. Teachers say I need support and you have an admin that's like great I'll make sure to take some away from you. Side-note there are really great admin....but the bad ones make the days unbearable. |
We have 5....1 is retiring. |
A lot of people don’t like that teachers get pensions but it’s helping keep the schools afloat. So many people would have left already if there wasn’t a pension. |
At least 8 at my HS... and maybe more as folks are still actively applying for other (non-teaching) opportunities! |
At my school the only ones I know that are leaving are transferring to other FCpS schools to be closer to home. |
10? this is big. |
I don't know what our school is looking like for next year but we had 11 leave last year. 1 to curriculum writing, 1 leaving teaching all together and the rest moving to other schools/promotions to higher positions at other schools. Somehow they managed to get a full set of staff for this year with no long term subs or teacher residents but I can't imagine another year like last year. |
This. |
You are lucky-a lot of school have multiple teacher residents and long term subs. |
Maybe they will get that pay raise Reid's been talking about? |
It doesn’t look like the pay raise is going to happen. |
Why? Not all teachers are automatically great. |
