I agree. If it were Chicago against a top public like Cal, UCLA, or Michigan then I would think differently.

Michigan? are you serious?

Michigan has a 50% in-state acceptance rate, full of stupid kids there.

That you aren’t even close to the actual instate acceptance rate tells me more about your level of stupidity.

If costs are close to the same, Chicago all the way!

U Chicago specially if he does not end up at medical school.

UChicago. 25% of Michigan's students score below a 1350 on the SAT. A big percentage also were admitted test optional, presumably because they fall below the 25%, so the average UChicago student is much, much stronger than the average UMichigan student.

Med schools know this.

+1 Much smaller undergraduate class meaning more attention, and much more selective school than UVA. If he/she doesn't mind the cold, it's a better academic environment.

This is a discussion about Chicago and UVA. A person with average intelligence understands that fact.

Outcomes basically the same - go to school where GPA is easier to manage and is more affordable

The outcomes are not basically the same. Chicago places more than UVA despite UVA haning 2.5X as many students.

Absolutely agree. People do not want to see it but it is true

But not drastic enough to justify price differential

Why do med schools focus on GPA only? A 3.5 GPA from Chicago is not the same level as 3.5 GPA from a lower ranked school.
