My derm recommended chemical peels. I’ve only done one out of a series of 3-4 and already see improvement. One of my friends asked me what I did to make my skin look so good. |
Because want to look their best? It’s not hard to understand. |
My mom is almost 80. She has stopped using all the $$$ lotion and potions she’s used for 40+ years. She now just uses Olay and gets the teensiest bit of Botox on her forehead and something else minor around her eyes. And looks amazing and age appropriate. It just woke her up a bit. After my dad died she spent almost 2 years just feeling horrible, not sleeping, depressed, stayed home. Did these treatments for herself as she was coming back to life and it has really helped her feel more confident. She’s very shy and always had trouble making friends; my dad was the in-road to all that. Somehow this little bit of self care has helped her immensely. She’s beautiful but never felt like it. And now she does. I guess that’s why someone would do these things. Self confidence. |
I'm 55 and look great in a bikini. I'm not going out like that. I cared about what I looked like at 30 and care what I look like at 55. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Something tells me you weren't hot at 30, 40 or 50. |
Because we can, and what’s it to you anyway? |
I get your question, actually. I think it's a toss between "Am I trying to look younger?" or " "Do I want to look better?" I'm going to accept getting older, but I may step up my face care game. Looking younger though- there literally is no end game and there's no limit on what you can do, and I don't see the point. I don't want to be 70 hanging out with friends who all have face lifts. I still want to accept what stage I'm in. |
Sagging may be a reason but there's usually more than one - which is why you need to see a dermatologist. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/how-to-shrink-pores |
NP. If I’m this nasty at 55 I’ll know I’ve failed at life. |
I’ve had several peels to deal with acne scars. They did nothing for pore size. I don’t get them anymore; IMO they didn’t do enough to warrant the high cost and healing time. |
Have you really found a difference with red light therapy? I see it all over the place but haven’t tried it. |
You may “look great in a bikini” (although I suspect not), but you’re ugly inside, so there’s that. |
It’s hard. I’m “only” 50 but could spend so much on things just to keep myself looking like I did only 5 years ago
I’ve started doing IPL for sun spots and broken capillaries. Revitalash and brow for thinning brows and eyelashes. Frequent superficial mole removals. Hair color every 3 weeks for much grey. Tretinoin every night. Lots of lotion for saggy neck, chest, elbows and knees. This takes so much time and money. Problem areas I haven’t figured out how to address without surgery are sagging eyelids, lip wrinkles, and generally dull and saggy looking skin. |
Oh and thinning and frizzy head hair |
All of the above plus dark hairs growing places they shouldn’t, peach fuzz, enlarged pores. |
