Is just not responding to invitations actually an acceptable thing?

Op, how did you reach out. You have their phone number? Send a note? Not saying it changes whether they are rude or not, just curious. You may as well give us the complete story.

OP said SHE reached out to the parents. And if the other child’s parents are not comfortable, they should say so rather than ignore. They were poorly raised and rude.

How do you expect your child to make friends?

My child has plenty of friends. But, at 9, invites should come from parents, not kids.

What? My 7 year old knows how to make plans and how to get parents in touch.

Sometimes I just see messages and it slips my mind and then it's a week or 2 later... just means it's not a priority. You get used to it if you've ever dated in the last 10 years 😆 just let it go.

+1
I have about three different calendars to check so it might slip. Sorry

If someone doesn't respond to our invites they are removed from the list forever

Rude, yes, if intentionally ignored but I'd assume they didn't see it or went to check their calendar or ask their kid but then got distracted or the kid was in bed and they forgot.

This. You might not have the best contact information for the parents. If you’ve never heard from them on anything, I might assume that they simply aren’t checking whatever phone or email address you have, or that your messages are being flagged as spam/junk.

Yes….thats why OP literally said, “ I reached out to the parents to schedule”

I personally find it rude behavior.

But these days, perhaps parents are so busy w/keeping the home fires burning, working full-time as well as caring for their kids that they simply do not prioritize this.

Not an excuse for sure…
Just thinking of a possible reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️
