Yet it can be done, very healthfully and sustainably.

Don't listen to the fat choir. I used to sing in it myself, but then I realized I didn't want to be a "victim" any more.

The more reasonable option is to eat real food in appropriate quantities so you don’t have to come up all kinds of elaborate eating rules. How about that?

Intermittent fasting is not exactly "elaborate rules". Give me a break.

Rule: "No twinkies after 2pm"
Fat person: "Stop oppressing me with your elaborate rules!!"

How about don’t eat twinkies at all because they are garbage? That isn’t real food in reasonable quantities

Wow, this is like reading the old pro ana boards except it's middle aged women who should know better.

No, eating breakfast and a piece of fruit for the day isn't the same as not eating twinkies.

We live in a country with unlimited calories available 24/7, packaged and prepared for you with delicious sugars and fats. Staying fit is not easy when there's profit in making you fat. Intermittent fasting doesn't sound so elaborate compared to the plan to make you fat.

The garbage doesn’t eat itself. It’s a plan to sell you garbage. Not some elaborate plan to make you fat.

I eat a big breakfast and a big lunch. I assure you I am not malnourished.

Actually ate dinner tonight, but IF has worked for me. It’s the binging that’s disordered.

ok, this is a little dramatic. for many thousands (millions?) of people, intermittent fasting works with none of the consequences you described. Often, people feel better, and have better digestion, less bloating, and more mental clarity (speaking for myself here). YMMV.

The premise of the original question was to just stop eating. It wasn't about intermittent fasting.

If I just don't eat, I will lose weight right? That's where I'm at.

That's how semaglutide works. Makes you feel full & uncomfortable all the time so you never want to eat.

No offense, but you must be on the spectrum. So you think the OP meant she will literally eat nothing until she hits her target weight? This is not how words work.

DP, but that's what I got from the OP. Not a question about IF but desperation..."that's where I'm at."
And your "on the spectrum" is offensive, even if you mean "no offense."

The only real problem with fasting is the hunger. If you go keto first - you'll get carb cravings for a week - you don't feel hunger. Carb cravings aren't hunger. Then start fasting. You won't feel hungry and you'll lose weight.

Most people are eating disordered to obesity. Going the other way is EXTREMELY uncommon. Possible? Yes. Probable? No.

This is true, but you are failing to see the problem with statements like this. Super unhelpful.

Some people need rules, because they've never learned to really listen to their bodies.

I’m the mother to a teen DD who attempted exactly what the OP asked. Not eat. Anything. To lose weight. She succeeded. And, as a prize, she got all the consequences I listed and more. I got accused of being dramatic. At most, I was projecting my experience on to my interpretation of OP’s question.

It's a far better starting point than the moronic "don't eat, fast" comment that started this awful thread of useless and hateful comments.
