There are 1 MM fewer college students today vs 2013. There are multiple schools in the top 100 with 80%+ acceptance rates.
Doesn’t matter what the birth rate may be if the %age of HS kids going to college continues to drop. |
Class of 2025 = few exceptions of course, but the vast majority have b'days between Sept 1, 2006 and August 31, 2007. Plenty of non-redshirted-2006 bday kids are in the class of 2025. |
Parent of a 2024, happily passing the baton onto you. Our time is up. Good luck!
Sitting next year out until back with the 2026. |
I have a class of 2025 kid and a class of 2026 kid.
Oddly, the '25 kid is in one of the smallest classes for their HS in recent years, and my '26 kid is in one of the largest. Must be an anomaly here. It's a large public high school, so I feel my '25 kid will have an easier time with colleges that are popular in our general area. And my '26 kid will have a tougher time. '26 kid has 100+ more students in their class! No college is going to take a huge number from a public high school. |
This. My DD is class of 2026 and her class is the biggest in her high school. |
CCO? |
Same here. 2026 is the biggest class. |
Only a 1/3 of the kids born in 2007 are class of 2026. MOST 2007 kids are class of 2025. |

I’ve got one in each class. Happy to share my lessons learned! |
With the Fafsa being botched, I wonder how many will defer and try again in 2025. |
