+1. very odd |
My point was that I’m sure you can figure out what OP is asking, regardless of dumb terminology. But maybe I’m overestimating the lawyer and the wtf pp. |
i would add if you are trying to keep to a tight budget, be aware that in some high COL areas, the room and board cost can go up a lot after you move out of the dorm and kids don’t always have the option to stay in the dorm more than 1-2 years. So the posted room and board on the website is understated and I hear that you can’t use 529 funds for the difference. |
We focused on billable first because if that number doesn’t work your kid can’t attend and there isn’t a spending choice that makes that cheaper.
For the rest, the kids have to cover their own books and spending money so we can kind of tell based on if/how we can cover billable costs like do they need to contribute towards tuition, do they have to take out loans etc what the sacrifices would be to make certain schools work. The decision was hey, you can be in LA but only with $2000 for spending and books, coming home only during winter break, and oh by the ways no guarantee that off campus housing won’t be more next year since only 1st year is guaranteed or you can be in Peoria, we can drive, and you can make the $2000 suggested for books and personal expense over the summer. |
It is one thing to point out issue with the question but why is the question wired the term is copied from the award package. |
Thank you off campus housing cost will be one of the consideration. We have very low 529 we are trying to figure out for sure it can cover before paying deposit. |
We compare only the hard costs from the colleges. Some include travel/misc, som don't. We tgen estimate our own travel of schools are spaced out. |
this! and im a lawyer. the billable nonbillable references make no sense |
