People are forced to give the government money from their paychecks and get a measly portion back after working their entire lives and you think the government is “giving people money?” VA benefits are only earned by being disabled or injured…you think that’s socialism? |

VA benefits can be earned by all veterans, not just those who are disabled or injured. My dad is a veteran (not disabled) and makes full use of his VA health care benefits. |

And I work for SSA and have Trump supporters tell me if I don’t like him, I should leave. SSA is a very left leaning agency. If that were the test, 90% of staff would quit. And I assure you, our 1980s era computer systems do not process benefits. (Just like IRS “computers” do not do all the tax return work). But, if that’s what you want… Hate on Feds, tell them to quit. It happened under the first Trump Administration. And many did. . Now Florida is backed up one full year on processing some benefits because they don’t have the staff. And SSA benefits are actually very, very complicated to process. It takes 1-2 years to get up to speed. Just hiring now doesn’t solve the problem. And if you can’t retain people who make it through the first two years, it gets worse and worse. Oopppppsss. Before you tell a Fed to “just quit”, make sure you are okay waiting a year or longer for your VA or SSA benefits. |

And have been trying to hire and catch up from the prior Trump hole. His long government shutdown and the constant shutdown threats this year are not helping morale. This is my job and I hate that you’ve had to wait. Every time I talk to someone who has had that wait, I apologize. And their stories are heart wrenching. It’s awful to hear, but important to have people be heard. But, we are finally, finally getting some traction on the case loads after Trump. There is a small alight at the end of tunnel Telling Feds to just quit makes the one year wait two years. We can only do more with less up to a point. And we are at mao regime and burnout as is. Also, forcing no public facing feds with high production back into commutes and cube farms is also causing people to leave as soon as they can. And yes, I think anyone who can retire will. Because the last iteration of Trump was exhausting, demoralizing and we had to watch the people we serve everyday suffer. And watch it get progressively worse each year. Hard to sign up to do it again if you can avoid it. |

I am convinced Biden will win in November despite current polling.
However, in case this does not happen, please consider staying on in the federal government to fight authoritarianism. We'll need all ethical people on board, regardless of their political leanings. |
