I’ve had chronic pain (generalized throughout body) for years. I’ve done PT, medication, acupuncture but nothing helps as much as limiting sugar, alcohol, caffeine and cardio/strength training several days a week. If I fall off the wagon in any one of these areas it flares up. |
Currently cosentyx but probably will switch to talz or skyrizi when i fail through again. I’ve been through remicade and humira and enbrel so far. |
Np here and have had AS for 15 years. Thanks for sharing your experience dealing with pain. I've bee discouraged lately. |
OP here. Thanks for all so far. It’s so great to see what’s working for people. |
Acupuncture helped me with chronic back pain and carpal tunnel pain.
I saw Alexandra "Alex" Knox at Classical Acupuncture - https://www.acupuncturedc.com/about-me Her office is walkable from Tenleytown Metro and there is plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. She also takes some insurance, so be sure to ask about that. Good luck! |
OP, thank you for this thread. I’ve had undiagnosable R hip, glute, hamstring, groin, and low back pain for over a year and it’s so lonely and depressing. I’m 53 and used to walk, run, weight train, take fitness classes, and be very active. Now, I feel like I mostly exist with my pain, fear, and anxiety. It’s terrible. |
Medical marijuana
Had a youngster with RA and an adult with fibromyalgia say they quit narcotics on MM Also had someone quit all pain meds weaning to turmeric over 6 mos |
After 15 years of pain, PT, injuries, strength training, massage, dry needling, and a laundry-list of diagnoses of conditions without treatment paths, I went off gluten. It helped immensely. Inflammation definitely played a role and went down significantly. The change was dramatic and immediate. If you see no change in 2 months, then don't bother. |
May I ask what foods you avoid? |
Swimming/exercising water followed by hot tub, heating pads at night, voltaran cream, tylenol. |
**in water |
Look into Dr. Sarno and Nichole Sachs the Cure for Chronic Pain. Also the app Curable. It's cost-free so if it doesn't work, no harm no foul.
It saved me from chronic migraine and headaches. I would start by downloading the Curable app. Check out their Board: https://www.curablehealth.com/about |
Dr Sarno's back pain book
My hairdresser swears by pilates. She was in severe pain for 2 years. She went to numerous docs. She was on a lot of pain meds that did not work. A client told her to do pilates. Her pain was gone in 6 weeks. |
Sorry OP. The “It’s all in your head” folks have found the thread. Do these people have nothing else to occupy their time besides chiming in and spreading misery? |
That's the worst summary and biggest misconception of the mind body connection. The pain is real. No one is saying it's not. My migraines were real. I was admitted into hospital twice and had transient aphasia. It just means the cure may not be physical. Why would you not try it. I spent thousands on other cures. This one cost nothing. But you do you PP. |
