I understand wanting to maintain privacy in this day and age, but your friend should not be embarrassed. A nightclub in Dupont Circle should be safe fun. Shame on DC for being such a sucky place for violence these days. I do not care if the shooter wasn't "from" DC. If we are inviting criminals, even worse. |
How about putting repeat offenders in prison first ? |
Was she embarrassed because she was at Decades?
I hope she’s better soon |
How about putting first time offenders in prison? |
Well, your friend isn't dead, so what do you think this person should be charged with? Maybe you should go to law school and when you understand enough about mens rea come back and type at us. |
Is the club going to be shutdown? |
DP. Please shut up. Hoping you will consider because I said “please.” |
DP: Why? |
A: The person’s remark was insensitive. B: Filing this atrocious event under DC’s assault statistics allows Bowser to continue downplaying violent crime. People see assault and think fist fight, not mass shooting. Attempted murder would be a more suitable description. |
What is “gun safety” going to achieve? These people are criminals. Why would they follow some gun safety law? Shooting people is also illegal and they’re totally undeterred by that law. Why would a gun law be any different? How about you lock violent people up for a very long time instead? That would actually be effective. |
Not dead is a fairly low bar. Is that the new standard? |
Attempted murder. -Lawyer |
Is that even a separate offense in DC? Not a lawyer, but my brief read of an MPD training manual is that you can charge "attempt of" for any felony, but the generic penalty for that crime is less than the specific offense of "assault with intent to kill," which carries up to 15 years. I don't think there is a separately identified "attempted murder" statute. |
MPD is bringing charges now? What's next? Will they also be prosecuting the cases? |
Lol. No. -- Lawyer |
