Raskin facing a primary challenge in MD-8

Tell me you don’t understand that most Jews don’t support Netanyahu without telling me.

Jamie Raskin is a very knowledgeable and well-respected leader. I will vote for him.

I can’t imagine Jamie Raskin losing. He’s a principled, smart person, and I’ve met him a handful of times. He seems very kind, unlike so many other politicians.

Raskin did not oppose Ukraine aid. He supported it.

NY Times indicates he voted no on the whole package https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/20/us/politics/ukraine-israel-foreign-aid-vote.html

The article you link to shows that he voted yes on aid to Ukraine.

As I understand it, I could be wrong, it says that Raskin voted yes in principle to aid for Ukraine, but voted no to the actual funding package…so he (like Gaetz and Boebert) voted at the end of the day against funding

Yes, you're wrong. Read the article you posted.

Re-read it. Says Raskin voted against “Rule (whole pakage)”

No, dude. Read the WHOLE article. Especially the part that explains what it meant to vote for what.

I'm voting for Eric Felber. He is a long time physician in Bethesda. It's time for a change. Raskin voted against aid to Israel and voted for aid to Taiwan and Ukraine as it says in the article. Time for him to go! As it stated, both the Washington Jewish Week and the Jewish Community Relations Council have sharply criticized Raskin. During these times, I want a leader who supports Israel.

Didn’t realize it was the guy who owns MedOne on Old Georgetown Rd (and lives above?). He was the only urgent care in downtown Bethesda for a long time. Now CVS and MedStar both have clinics and his business has suffered. If he is running on the strength of his professional service to the community, I would be more inclined to vote for him if his clinic wasn’t so run down. It’s depressing going in there.

Raskin has been dealt a number of challenges which he has handled with grace and dignity. That said he is on the wrong side of every significant issue that America faces today.

So, since MD-8 is not going to go republican then this may be the next best option.

Raskin is supporting Israel, Israelis, and the future of Israel, by opposing further military aid for Netanyahu's war.

We are supporting Felber. Raskin wanted to “send a message” by opposing aid to Israel (Gaza aid was part of the package too btw)? Well we are going to send a moral message to him - stand by our friends as they fight a terrorist army and Iran.

He voted against it because it also would’ve funded efforts to secure the border. That’s why he voted “no”. His problem wasn’t with funding Ukraine, it was with doing anything to slow down millions of illegal immigrants from flooding into the country.

Democrats are pinning their hopes of million of votes from illegal aliens who’ve registered to vote and will be provided with mail in ballots. The funding bill Raskin voted against would’ve helped to stem the flow of them into out country. That’s why he voted against it. Not Ukraine.

So what you’re saying is, Raskin wants to destroy Israel to save Israel.

Got it.

Is that what you think the Israelis who oppose Netanyahu are saving?

What I'm saying is that Netanyahu's war will destroy Israel.

Raskin can speak for himself - and does.

Most Israelis now oppose Netanyahu, but they also support freeing the hostages, defeating Hamas terrorists, defending their country against Iran and Hizbollah attacks….and making peace with the Palestinians, once these give up “from the river to the sea” fantasies. Listen to the interview with opposition leader Lapid on NYT podcast. Raskin is throwing pro-peace Israel under the bus, which is why the major Jewish voices in his district have just spoken against him. I predict there will be a significant protest vote on May 14, bigger than the uncommitted protest vote against Biden.

Exactly. It's sad some people do not understand that helping Netanyahu now means the death of Israel later. Netanyahu is just another Trump, or Bolsonaro, or Berlusconi. He must not be allowed to kill more Palestinians. He is creating such a deep well of suffering and anti-Israel hatred in the world that more deadly terrorism and torture aimed at Jews and Israelis is sure to continue for years to come. The US can stop him.

Which is never going to happen.

If Hamas, Hezbollah and other palestinian terror groups stopped fighting tomorrow, there would be peace by lunchtime. If Israel stopped fighting tomorrow, they’d cease to exist by dinner time.
