Arlington 2015 boys

To the person who said talking about 9 year old soccer players is for wierdos, well AFC Ajax and FC Barcelona, two of the best youth academies in the world, start building their scouting database with U6's who are playing up at U7 or U8.

We have been very happy with Arlington with our 2015 boy. (He is not on the top team.)

Will be interesting to see how they move folks around since they’re adding the pre-academy team.

Doesn’t the red team just become the pre-academy? I thought renaming it to pre academy was just a money grab (pre academy is like $500 more).

No. A hard lesson is coming, unfortunately.

What teams would you consider top in the Area?

Can you elaborate on what this means?

2015? The ones named earlier: Coppermine, SYC, Pipeline, Bethesda, McLean. Probably in that order.

Sounds about right, pipeline bethesda and mclean seem pretty even, those were the only teams in the DMV accepted to top bracket of Jeff Cup this year. Although SYC seems to have been declining since news of HG leaving, next year will be hard given those boys were only taught to play kickball.

Arlington 2015s beat McLean this spring and nearly tied SYC.

That’s what I thought too, and it is to some extent, but the difference is pre-academy moves to a more competitive league. The top two teams, red and white, mostly play the same opponents, but I think this changes when red turns into pre-academy. Ostensibly, the justification for the extra cost is that the league and tournaments pre-A play in are more costly due to being more expensive and probably farther away.

What is still unclear to me is whether the 2015 pre-A will actually change leagues, cause I think that new league has an age minimum —the cutoff ought to be 2014, maybe 2013. But not 2015. I could be wrong, but if true, then yeah the extra $500 would totally be a money grab.

Arlington parents be forewarn. The new coach is HG. He is the current coach at SYC and he is a piece of work.

The only reason the Samba boyzzz was ranked so high is because they play in every freaking tournament.

I forgot to add, he would have the Samba Boyzz play a year up in these local tournaments and bring in ringers.

Its a different story when you put those Samba Boyzz in strong tournaments. I believe they have only won the Jeff Cup once and have yet to win SuperCopa.

That is also accurate. Most of the Red team players, at multiple clubs, will now just become pre-academy (ECNL, ECNL-RL, GA #1 and #2). However, I would say, designating a team as pre-academy should give the coach latitude to demote the underperforming kids who have been there since day 1 on the Red team and are mostly there because of longevity. In our club, the fee is about $300 more over non pre-academy teams, I.E. the white team.

Will he bring his own team over to Arlington?
