Happens all the time at our inbound MS. Which is why we went with private. It just wasn't worth the additional stress on my already anxious kid. |
Thanks, everyone. I feel oddly… comforted? to hear it is common and seems stemmed from boredom or entertainment. Our school does suspend, but it persists.
Are they charged with assault once they reach high school/teen years? |
Laugh all you want but it works. Kids know if they misbehave they’re getting suspended. |
^ PP. kids get sent to the principal and in school suspension for verbal fight (using derogatory names). The school doesn’t put up with anything. Fine by me. |
Welcome to Alexandria. |
Same. Our admin patrol the grounds after school to try to deter them but they can easily communicate where they are and meet somewhere out of sight. |
Suspending kids is racist. |
I don’t know that it matters. The kids doing the fighting in hall don’t care if they get suspended. The only positive is if they are suspended, they aren’t there to cause/participate in fighting. |
Yes. We have fights regularly at our MCPS middle school. Sometimes in the hallways, which is annoying for my smallish DD if she gets knocked into something. Often fights in the cafeteria.
Half the time it’s girls fighting and half the time it’s boys. |
Or MCPS. Daily occurrence. |
Well, someone just brought a knife to RMHS a few weeks ago in MCPS. Plus, there have been a ton of other issues with weapons and fighting in the bathrooms at other MCPS high schools. Not sure that the kids do grow out of it. And not just boys, plenty of girl fights also. |
Yeah. Lots of fights in MCPS. |
What’s interesting is public schools do suspend for a fight but private schools do not. |
FCPS parent here. Middle School, yes, specially girls. Once a month? how about once per week... My kids are in high school now and there is barely any fights at all. |
JW/RM is all trash now. And IB program can’t cover it all up |
