Meeting ex for drinks

Having sex with an ex is totally fine if you want to destroy your marriage.

I wouldn’t hesitate about this for a second, personally. I’ve done it because we live in different cities and I had a work trip. My spouse knew.

1) I’m friends with my ex.
2) I don’t understand the “temptation” thing. Maybe I’m not a big drinker, but I just don’t get how you can feel out of control of the decision to cheat on your spouse. I don’t have sex with other people. The end. I’m perfectly capable of having drinks with an ex and enjoying appropriate flirtation and the warm glow of the past without accidentally taking my pants off.

This is such a stupid question. Could I meet my ex husband for drinks? Absolutely. We've been divorced for almost 20 years, we never had kids together, and I haven't thought about him for a very long time until I saw this post. I have no interest in having drinks with him but there would be zero concern that something was going to happen if we got together. Could my friend meet her ex for drinks? Absolutely not. He's a player and a jerk and she'd fall for whatever he said like she has many times in the past even though he has moved on and married someone else. So the answer to your question is yes and no. Only you know which one applies to your situation.

wtf does “fall for him” mean? Like doesn’t this say so, so much more about your friend than the dude?

Like if I went and had drinks with some hot movie star who was desperately in love with me, it would still be totally within my power to not have sex with him. I just don’t understand the “fall for him” thing. How weak can a person be? Are you all just floating along with so little agency?

The way you phrased this question indicates you understand that there's a possibility, even a likelihood, of bodily fluids being exchanged, so I'm going to advise that it's not a good idea for YOU.

Other people could probably handle it. But I don't think you can. You must know that somewhere along the line of this drink-getting date, genitals are gonna get wet.

Life is short. Do you want to hit it? If so, go for it.

I had an ex who lived on the opposite coast and traveled frequently to my area for work. Whenever he's in town he'd ask me to have dinner with him (we were both married by this time). DH knew of him and didn't care. So I went a couple of times and it was just catching up on our lives. Finally one time I brought DH out with me, and that was the last time the ex ever asked to meet up.

Depends on the person. I know better than to meet the crush I've had for years for drinks, especially alcohol.

Way to let the point miss you by a mile.

Drinks, no. Coffee, yes.

Sure, I am responsible adult. I can have a few drinks with a friend and miraculously not end up having sex.

Daytime is much more respectable. Why *make* it be alcohol? And at a bar?
Anonymous
Seriously, this is my daydream. flirting over coffee and listening to their voice. All sorts of reasons not to, however.
