+100

She’s also great for Botox!

She’s fully competent and also a doc I’m looking to move on from. She’s removed many atypical moles and I have scars to remind me. Friends seem to have similar procedures with much less scarring. She also ONLY answers questions asked. I’d appreciate a little proactive advice from my specialist.

This was my Barry experience

What kind of proactive advice are you looking for? Wear sunscreen? I'm not sure what you are getting at. She and I have had many conversations about skin and health. I have sensitive skin (rosacea) and she has recommended certain soaps to use (goat soap) and recommended against retinols for me (because of my sensitive skin). My DH has a family history of ncolon cancer which is closely linked to skin cancer, so she does extra screening for that. She is focused on medicine, not beauty treatments.

Problem is they always leave ugly scars, they’re small but annoying. So looking for some recs for trusted derms, maybe a bit more discerning, but certainly a bit better at the scalpel and stitches.

So you'd rather not be given the choice of removal? Derm is just making a recommendation, you don't have to take it. Not sure why you would even bother to go if you want someone who doesn't give you the option of removal.

If you have a lot of moles are you developing new moles or are they existing? If they are mostly existing moles you might consider one of those mole mapping things where they take photos and map your moles.

I feel like if they are existing moles the Dr should know within one or two visits which ones they want to remove.

What? Just looking for a great derm who's better at mole removal.

If they are on an arm or leg, don't worry about it. On your face? See a plastic surgeon instead of a derm

They have to get good margins and scarring is largely going to be dependent on the patient.

X100 Dr Lucy! The wait for the first appointment is very very long though. I waited 7 months and so worth it.

Anyone have a plastic surgeon recommendation for face moles?

+1 Dr Masri-Fridling. She’s near Springhill metro in Tysons/Vienna. She’s removed my skin tags and is treating my DC for acne. She’s very good and will send prescription to pharmacy of your choice.

Our previous dermatologist was Dr Talakoub at McLean Dermatology. She was good but she prefer that we use their private pharmacy partner, which seemed more expensive than places like CVS. So we switch to Dr Masri-Fridling.
