Ovi is 41 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record, a feat absolutely no one thought was possible even five years ago. While he had a slow start this season, he was again one of the leading scorers in the league after the all-star break. Ovi is what brings eyeballs to the Caps. No one is benching Ovi, who still has two years on his contract. It would be like benching Hank Aaron as he neared Babe Ruth's home run record.

He has gone through periods of gaining weight even in NHL. Trotz had a come to Jesus with him about his fitness leading up to 2018, when they won the cup.

That said, he picked up scoring well at the end of the regular season. He's still good, albeit maybe not the level of 5 years ago. BFD. He can stay on the ice as long as he wants, imo. He's earned it.

Game is too fast for him. He doesn't skate, he doesn't defend, he lacks skills, he can't handle the puck... but other than that... What bothers me the most is that he doesn't even try like Oshi or Wilson, or whoever. And he is still talking about playing two more years. We are f'ed.

He sells tickets. He is all that sells tickets. Without Ovi, the caps are just another irrelevant DC franchise

Yep, at this pt. he sells tickets to watch the old man stumble around and spit incessantly. Dude looks like he might collapse out there.
