Do you think the Scientologists are blackmailing Tom Cruise

Anonymous
Leah Remini left Scientology and has spoken out against it. She was in from childhood. She was fortunate that her family members stuck by her and she is brave af, imo.

+1 They collect blackmail material on everyone but they're not having to blackmail Cruise. He's a true believer and it's more likely that he helps them blackmail other people.

And making him do their bidding / cut off family according to their rules?

The reason I ask is I think it would be impossible for a parent to abandon a child in the way he seems to have done, unless he is being held to ransom in some major way that would mean he could lose everything.

I also think that by now, in 2024 no one would care if he was gay / bi / trans or whatever. No one.

OP you might enjoy this classic South Park episode.

They are not blackmailing Tom Cruise. Blackmail is definitely in the bag of tricks that Scientology uses, but Tom Cruise is far too valuable to risk pissing off.

Anyone wondering if this "religion" is a dangerous cult should follow Leah Remini and watch her series about Scientology. I agree, PP, she's incredibly brave to have spoke up so strongly and publicly against them.

Didn't David McSavige's wife completely disappear and there's no investigation? That is pretty sinister stuff.

Tom is a true believer. He’s a brainwashed cult member. He is a god in Scientology and he’s addicted to that adulation and obviously he’s driven in some weird way because he is very popular and not likely to suffer from any revelation of sexuality.

But if all the truth of how he treated his wives/mothers of his children came out, he would likely be cancelled. Notice Katie says nothing about him - the NDA associated with her marriage dissolution must be ironclad and was likely lucrative above and beyond the $400k/yr she gets for child support.

Maybe Tom is gay, maybe not. He’s definitely more than a little cuckoo.

Unfortunate she didn’t consider that before choosing to have a kid with him. And then later marrying him.

Katie Holmes was 25 when she met Tom Cruise, a man she had harbored a keen crush for while a teen. She was coming off the breakup of an engagement and a man almost twice her age with a ton of charisma swept her off her feet. She was pregnant 3 months into the relationship.

Didn’t you ever do anything stupid when you were only in your early 20s?

I have nothing but huge respect for Katie Holmes - a great many women marry men who turn out to be duds and a danger to their kids, and many women don’t have the courage to leave. Obviously it helped that she was going to get very generous child support and that she had a divorce lawyer father who could set it all up for her to make the exit easy - but still, she did a very good thing and was only 32 leaving the biggest box office star of recent years and taking on a crazy ass cult by walking away from him. Good job, Katie!

I know she had a clause not to be seen / photographed in public with a "new lover" for 5 yrs. Which she seemed to abide by.

Why would he care?

Did you really just say this? You think dating, getting engaged, getting pregnant, and then marrying him was “doing something stupid in your 20s?”

There are many many pictures of Tom with his kids - Tom and Nicole with the kids and then Tom with the kids after Nicole was gone.

And of Tom with Suri up until the year following the divorce, after which they didn’t keep in close touch and apparently now they are basically estranged.

Tom is seen with his adult children fairly frequently- but they are both Scientologists and haven’t spoken to their mother in years and years because the church considers her a suppressive person. That’s why Tom divorced her, because the church wanted it.

That’s ok. She was in her 20s! Too young and silly to know any better.

Yes, just like close to half of all marriages that take place between people in their twenties lead to failure. Many more such marriages are failures that limp along for decades ‘for the kids’ and ‘for the finances.’

Why don’t you shove the superiority complex?

Until it doesn’t and she has to run from a cult.
Ya win some, ya lose some.

Your condescending attitude needs to go first.
