In the dorms? The food? Both? |
Brown. It’s a better education than Georgetown. |
That is debatable. But in this situation (local kid) I would pick Brown for the opportunity to move away from the DC area. |
Also, what Brown AO would have time or inclination to be on a chat board? They don't need to market and have nothing to be insecure about. There are a LOT of enthusiastic Brown parents though. I'll admit, I am one, though first post on thus thread. Very happy kids (well, except housing, but that's pretty typical for these schools). |
I am the PP who asked the question, and I am an enthusiastic Brown parent also. The BS-er has been asked which posts every time they make that accusation and never answers. Not sure of their motivation or point and I won't assume to be. And of course I agree with you on the housing issue! |
My kid thinks they exist in any city situation, and that it is not a factor in deciding colleges, would they be lucky enough to be admitted If you are not a city kid, that is fine, but it has nothing to do with the quality of education at any city school. |
First time that I have ever read this. Can you elaborate ? I know that in the early 1980s the Ivy League wanted Northwestern (said no due to the travel distance for athletic competitions), Army (USMA at West Point) and Navy (USNA at Annapolis), but--obviously--it never came to fruition. Georgetown as an Ivy makes sense although Georgetown is light on research compared to the Ivy League and to Big Ten Conference schools. |
They are NOT part of every urban situation. But if you think they are fine, you will enjoy Georgetown. |
If kid chooses Brown, watch out for the rabbits! They are everywhere. My kid swears they are plotting something. |
They are everywhere in Arlington too...in the urban areas especially. Yard has 5-7 at any one time. |
Gtown if they’re the “straight and narrow path” type, Brown if they’re more creative. Also Brown if they’re interested in public policy as it relates to public health. |
Let me guess, your next claim is that you have actually been to every institution - and verified? All of my and my (rather large) extended family's degrees, are from urban colleges, and each of those campuses had rats. Most of their (and my) schools are T20. So, IMHO and IME, you can not make any correlation between quality of college and rats. You are just being absurd. If you are afraid of rats, stay out of all major cities. Better yet, stay home and keep reading outdated social media. How is that working for you? |
Oh no! The Brown kids should start a hyped up social media to deter the idiots! LOL. |
DC was deciding between the two, down to the wire, a few years ago. Also live close to Georgetown. Chose Brown. Have heard on several occasions something to the likes of 'so glad I chose Brown over Georgetown'. Different area of study though. |
Okay?? |
