YMCA Camp. They usually have spots available and it's pretty affordable. Some District DPR camps have spots available still too. Good luck!

The other is a therapeutic one.

We always used care.com to list nanny jobs. You might be able to find a teacher or teacher’s aide who is looking for summer work.

For a summer nanny, you might be able to find a college student. Reach out to friends who may live in places with list serves, esp upper NW and close-in suburbs, and see if they’ll post for you.

Headfirst summer camp at St Albans is a big camp that might have openings. Most private schools and preschools host camps; I’d check with those.

Since you mentioned outdoors - you may want to check out Camp Woodend in Chevy Chase. It may be too far from you, but our daughter has been going since she was six and has been almost every summer - only missed 2020. She is a teenager now, and it is still one of her favorite places to spend a week or two during the summer. They have a bunch of different themes, so there are choices such as bugs, nature art, animals, etc.

If kid likes outside, look at some of the camps on private school campuses. Depends where you can drive. Burgundy Farm in Alexandria has lots of outside, art, swimming. So do some of the other camps at private schools, but they may be a harder commute. There are often carpools.
