How do you get over the hunger cravings?

What works for me is to simply lean into the hunger and accept it. Also, I do intermittent fasting, which allows me to eat 2 larger meals rather than 3 tiny ones. I find I’m just as hungry at lunchtime if I eat breakfast or not. I also eat very low carb, which helps.

Here’s what I’ll be eating today:

-around 1pm: plain greek yogurt; chicken breast with grilled veggies

-around 4pm: 4oz steak with cheese, salsa, and sour cream

-around 7pm: 4oz pulled pork; 1.5 cups chicken taco soup

Op - yea I think I might just have to sit in the discomfort. It stinks. Sometimes I feel light headed when I go too long in between meals.

Me too. It sort of goes away after a while, but I just don’t lose appreciable weight unless I spend a good portion of the day moderately hungry. So the hunger pains reinforce that I’m on track. This mental reframing is the only way I don’t collapse into self pity and defeat! It sucks and does feel disordered at times.

This is what I am trying to eat:

Breakfast - coffee and Greek yogurt with 1/3 cup of granola

Lunch - salad with shrimp

Dinner - protein of some sort and veggies

Snack - apple slices with mozzarella stick

No granola, no oatmeal! Breakfast is a protein smoothie or an omelet with eggs and egg whites, spinach, and cottage cheese. Rest of the day looks good except add more protein. Prep the same food for every meal you’ll be so bored of food you won’t think of it at all.

PP. Maybe. But I think humans are meant to be hungry sometimes, right? Is it only disordered if you’re doing it to lose “vanity” weight?

True, eating when hungry versus because you're bored is important. but 1400 calories seems very little for that amount of exercise.

Sometimes isn’t everyday, especially if you have the resources not to be hungry. That’s called starving yourself.

PP. So do you think the only healthy approach is to eat preemptively so you’re never hungry? I think that’s now considered the norm but was not the norm 100 years ago.

Where did you get that? I’m saying you should eat until you’re full (not stuffed).

But what if that results in obesity?

You're hungry because you aren't eating enough. Eat more food (but not junk) and you won't be as hungry.

You sound like your weight is perfectly healthy for your height.

This is PP. OP has said she would like to lose ten pounds, so clearly not obese. Are you suggesting starving oneself is healthier than eating nutritious foods to satiety?
