As I said constipation is definitely not an issue and has been ruled out.

You said his pediatrician ran a “bunch of tests a couple of years ago.” You should see an actual GI doctor, and since this is now a couple of years after the tests were run, they will probably want to recheck for possible “silent” constipation and many other possible issues. - NP

It is not silent constipation. I’m not sure how to be clearer.

How are you so sure? Regardless I also said “many other possible issues.” If your child has GI issues but don’t want to go see a doctor who specializes in GI issues, then I am not sure what advice anyone on here can give. We can speculate and it will just be that, speculation.

How can I be sure? Because it’s been definitively ruled out by two doctors including an GI doctor and was never a consideration anyway. I am very familiar with chronic constipation and how it might present. This child absolutely does not have it however much anonymous internet experts might tell me otherwise. So bizarre that you’d double down and insist.

And as I said he’s seen a GI doctor who was unable to find a cause. I’m trying to work out if it’s worth going back through all that again, to again be dismissed despite having a BMI at 3rd percentile.

Thanks for this - I missed this earlier amid all the suggestions that it’s constipation. This could be part of the explanation. I’ll ask his doctor about it.

I’m one of the people that suggested ruling out constipation. I work in GI. Is he on ADHD medicine? Check thyroid. Consider GERD. Limit triggers. Make sure he doesn’t lay down for at least 3 hours after eating. Consider seeing endocrinology if he is not growing. Check gall bladder. That will also look at kidneys to rule out stones. I think it is worth it to see Gl again. Good luck.
