I didn’t.

Ugh, sorry you missed it.

Jeff, can you still see the thread and copy and paste my post here for the OP to see? It's the post with the set of questions in bold. It was respectful and didn't violate any rules.

I don't think I got that far into the thread myself before I deleted it. So I don't know to which post you refer. Nevertheless, once a thread has been deleted I have no way to view it again.

DP, but do you think maybe you could try reading it before deleting it?

Maybe you have all the time in the world. I don’t.

I don’t think it was a very long thread and you have time to quickly answer here. Maybe you could get volunteer moderators? I presume some of the people who have offered to pay for the website could contribute to a (small) salary or even volunteer themselves? I would volunteer (as I read DCUM for free happily!), but I think we have very different perspectives re: moderation. But I’m sure you could get help or $ for help?

perhaps you could leave up even one of the videos showing columbia protesters identifying with hamas and being nakedly anti-semitic, instead of erasing all of them and completely whitewashing this protest.

i don't think every person at the protest is a big fan of hamas. but it's absurd, and dangerous, not even to allow recognition that this is a loud element of that protest.

if not for the good of everyone - how about so op can get a glimpse of what this protest actually looks like, and how her daughter's association with it can be viewed by those who aren't in the anti-israel camp.

she should be worried about her daughter's participation. this isn't like the anti-apartheid protests we were all part of in the 90s.

After 19 years of running this website you might think that I would have figured this stuff out by now, but I guess not.

In theory, I would have plenty of time to carefully read each post in each thread. Or, I would have the interest and resources to either pay or recruit volunteer moderators who I would have to train, manage, and supervise. All so that we could hopefully ensure that a post you like doesn't get deleted. But, keep in mind that any one of those moderators could make a moderating decision with which you disagree and we would end up having a very similar conversation. So, that's not really a perfect solution, is it. All because the world itself is imperfect.

Reality, in contrast to theory, is that I occasionally have to be offline for periods of time. When I return, I often find a mailbox full of reports. If it happens as it did yesterday that I will soon have to go offline again, I don't have a lot of time to take care of those reports. So, I make judgement decisions which — like the world itself — can frequently be imperfect. But, then later in the evening when the only thing I have to give up is sleep, I may have time to respond to a post like yours.

The OP's daughter was not at that protest. Also, when upwards of 30,000 Palestinians have been killed and many more than that are currently at risk of famine, I think worrying about a couple of nut job protesters is really missing the big picture.

Jeff - I don't know how you conclude it's just a couple. That seems like wishful thinking on your side.

And OP's daughter IS part of this protest - that's her whole issue, isn't it?

But this is your website.

From the OP's message:

DD said she knows what the protesting guidelines are and is adhering to them. She is clear about the what she can and can not do. She’s not in an encampment or getting in the faces of LEOs.

A very small minority of protesters is identifying with Hamas or being nakedly anti-Semitic.
