Harry Potter like book for kids

OP, I have a strong reader who was scared of seemingly every movie as a kid. Books are just so much less scary. I let him start reading HP in late first grade with the intention of stopping him for a break after book 3. But he was OBSESSED. So I let him keep going. And he was not scared. Just let him keep reading HP.

Redwall series (Brian Jaques).

I'm reading HP book 4 with my 8 year old now after she devoured the first 3 in short order, and she said she's glad we're reading it together...she tends to have strong fears/anxieties, though.
