The best part is even gifted and talented programs (public and private) don't really do this until 5th or 6th grade, when a smart 1st or 2nd grader can easily handle these concepts.

Not smart. In the 1970s, average 1st and 2nd grader were expected to handle these concepts, which I know first hand from looking at my own notebooks my parents kept.
