I was originally thinking between Gatlinburg or Asheville or Smokey mountain national park.

Op here

They have a really fun escape room. And mini golf. Rent bikes. You can also rent golf carts. We love it there.

OP thanks - any place in particular you would rent? We would prefer to do an AirBnB or VRBO most likely since my husband will need a room to work in and hotels are too difficult.

Will it be warm in late April?

Warm-ish. If the pool is heated the kids might swim there, but doubtful you'll want to get in the ocean. Tons of rentals.

We were in the ocean this year.

Why not drive to Florida? Break up the trip if you prefer.

Downtown has a great aquarium, there are big parks, lots of historic battlefields if you are into that (our kids were not). Also close to the border so you can go to RubyFalls and Rock City in GA. We also went to Little River Canyon and Russell Cave in Alabama, both of which are national monuments (I think).

They also had a cool indoor climbing space downtown, very pedestrian friendly, nice river, etc.

It’s been a while since we went. We probably went for about a week. It was definitely spring break.

You were in the ocean for this year's spring break (which was late March)?
I doubt it.

You have time drive to mid-Florida before the ocean water is warm enough to swim in.
