Seattle hotel stay for Alaskan cruise

don't stay near the airport, unless all you want to do is rest in your hotel room. staying in SeaTac/Tukwila (location of the airport) would be like coming to DC and staying out at Dulles.

I stayed at the Thompson recently and it was great. It’s very close to port

+ 1000 stayed there several times

Don't stay near the airport. Not a terrific area; you can't really walk anywhere; potential for stress the next day getting to the ship.

The Edgewater is a classic (the Beatles fished out their window!). Further from the cruise ship terminal but still walking distance, you might like the Inn at the Market.

We stayed at red lion ( last August) the night before Alaska cruise ( we arrived around 10pm), it offered hotel shuttle from airport to hotel, then we had taxi ( Uber) to cruise port the next morning. It didn’t worth the money to stay at hotel near port for $200 more, and downtown area may not be that safe. For August we packed waterproof winter jacket, waterproof thin jacket, disposable raincoat and waterproof hiking sneaker ( unsure about May).

And depend on your cruise ship there are 2 different ports, one is walkable while another one must ride taxi.

this would be my vote! Love the Edgewater. If it was good enough for the Beatles, it's good enough for me.

Not the airport.

I have done this trip many times.

Stay somewhere near the port.

Hyatts are very nice in Seattle I have stayed at the ones closest to the Convention center.

Enjoy

I have this one booked for this summer. Long walk or quick Uber to.the port. Walkable to the market or space needle.

Juneau will be cold and wet, as others have said. Pack a waterproof rain jacket and a fleece layer at a minimum. I would bring a warm hat.

Seattle that weekend could be anything and all the things. I looked at family photos from a few years around that date. It looks like we have always been in long sleeves, sometimes in cold rain and sometimes in brilliant lovely sunshine. Seattle is very casual so do not worry about "city outfits" if you're usually the kind of traveler that does. If you only have a rain jacket and a light fleece or insulated jacket from your cruise, you don't need to worry about a cute jacket- people wear anything and everything. That time of year it will never be so wet that you'll want rain boots in the city. Cute sneakers are fine. The sun rises early and sets late- if you stay at the Edgewater it is safe and nice to take a long walk on the path north that goes toward the other cruise terminal and Expedia headquarters.

I've lived in places where people break out the shorts when it hits 55 degrees. Seattle is not that place. Bring pants. A lot of Seattle people won't give up their puffy jackets until it's 75 degrees and/or the Fourth of July.

+1, plus it's right down the block from the market and their shower products smell amazing!

I am not sure exactly where the cruise ship port is, but we love the Embassy Suites in Seattle (it is right near the ballpark and has a great free breakfast and a nice rooftop pool).

+1. Stayed here a few months ago for 3 days and liked it a lot. It was central and walkable to everything I wanted to see.

That's an easy spot to stay, and there is also the Silver Cloud right there. Silver Clouds are a regional franchise and are usually clean, fresh and pretty new. You'll need to check the baseball schedule before counting on one of those. Seattle draws a lot of fans from far away because the next closest franchises are in the Bay Area and Colorado, so both hotels book up with visitors during homestands.
