TJ waitlist

That would be kind of skewed still though. DD was AAP in ES but decided to go to our base school instead of the center for MS so wouldn’t show up as AAP.

for classes of 2023 and 2024 (before admissions change), there were fewer than 10 students in non-Advanced Academics.

So Kilmer and Thoreau each sent less than
10 kids to TJ? Wow.
Anonymous
Not all middle schools are sending same caliber, varies quite a bit, from Algebra 1 to Geometry to Algebra 2, and so forth, with math. It's anybody's guess what the talent spread is within each subject area - Science, English, etc.

So she took honors, not AAP?

The data would still be nice to have.

Yes as the base school MS doesn’t have AAP.

I think most/all do now.

These seem really low scores. Are they weighted?

How many of the waitlists get admission for each school?

It depends on how many students decline their offer and the middle school they are from.

The reallocation of a declined offer depends on whether the school's offer count falls below its allocated seats. If a declined offer leaves the middle school with fewer seats filled than allocated, it goes to the next ranked waitlisted applicant from that middle school. Otherwise, the declined offer returns to the pool of unallocated seats, and the next overall ranked waitlisted applicant receives it.

I understand the process, but I am looking for the statistics on this from the prior year data mentioned.

2025 data?

Only 28 offered from Longfellow?!

Is this real?

Yes, TJ admissions did a terrible job denying highly qualified Longfellow students.

I don't understand this. The total Offered is only 189 and the total in the Waitpool is 1083. Don't they make offers to 550 and pull from the Waitpool as offers are declined?

I'm not sure of the year, but I know of some top students at Longfellow who did not apply, including one who qualified for MathCounts Nationals.

550 is the total offers made. Spreadsheet has 125 schools listed with at least one applicant and/or at least one offer. Offer count is show only if a school received more than 10 offers, otherwise TS (too small) is shown.
*Values represented as "TS" reference 10 or fewer students to protect student privacy as such data could potentially identify specific students, which FCPS could not disclose, under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 USC 1232g.
