Terrible results for high school
Waitlisted at Latin (I expected that) with a number over 100
Waitlisted at MacArthur (didn’t expect that) with a number over 100
Waitlisted at Sojourner Truth (didn’t expect that) with a number over 50
And ineligible for SWW….
Doesn’t leave much….

I'd just like to say as a 4th time lottery loser, it always makes me feel a little better to find out that other families are also feeling the disappointment. It's a reason I appreciate DCUM. People won't be honest about this IRL most of the time, because their kids might be watching and also because they don't want to put down the school their kid winds up at. But when you aren't happy with your school, or are stressed about what it's offering you kid, and you get bad results, it's hard.

Anyway, giving virtual hugs to everyone else who is disappointed and thinking once again about how they are goign to make living in this crazy city work (or how they are going to move, which is our problem -- it's not for us). Anyway, hugs.

Ineligible means no offer or waitlist offer, right?

Seems like a tough year for incoming high school freshmen.

Truth's PMF numbers were some of the highest for middle/high in the city. They are doing something right. Right enough for my kid to be 60+ on their 6th grade list.

(And apparently for a 50+ spot for 9th grade above?)

Huh, it looks like Truth's 9th grade WL was only 2 kids last year. Man, what a swing...

Middle school is the most competitive seat in the city and getting more competitive every year. So people list back ups. Some might try the school and some might pull out.

I think I might be relieved by the fact this forum hasn't exploded. Thanks JEff for all you have done. The DCPS portion of this group has aged. Now let's do sandwich generation and AI!

Washington leadership, Haynes, cap City? Sorry.

Who knows. You may still get in to Sojourner Truth. Lots of kids will go Private or end up getting in off of a waitlist somewhere.

In at McKinley Tech and thrilled!

We ended up with #2 on the waitlist at School Within School, but we don’t have a sibling preference. Anybody know if we’re likely to get in or if all the waitlist offers end up going to siblings?

I posted too soon. My tenth grader got into McKinley Tech. So excited, especially since we know seats for tenth are limited!
