Dr. Broquard/Lafayette

I wonder if this was a voluntary move. Seems like a demotion to move to a smaller school.

Given the fact that Dr. Broquard has been announced as the next principal of Miner, and Lafayette has only announced a meeting for community input into the next principal, it sure seems like Dr. Broquard is leaving voluntarily.

Its official. Broquard will be at Miner.

Do principals of schools with more at risk students get higher salaries or bonuses? Dr Broquard told her LSAT last week that she thought having more at-risk students at Lafayette was a fantastic idea because they came with more funding.

You can read how schools are funded in DCPS here: https://dcpsbudget.com/budget-model/student-based-allocations/

In short, schools receive additional funds to support students with greater needs including services for Multilingual Learners, students receiving special education, and at-risk students.

Principals of high-poverty schools and schools identified by OSSE for Comprehensive Support and Intervention (CSI) are eligible for additional bonuses if they are rated Highly Effective. You can read more about how principals are evaluated and how this evaluation is tied to compensation here: https://dcps.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dcps/publication/attachments/DCPS%20School%20Leader%20IMPACT%20Guidebook%20Principals_1.pdf

Funny then that she did everything she could to run out students with disabilities.

I work at Miner. Would this be a red flag for staff? Particularly for K or ECE?
Miner and Lafayette do not have the same population of students at all.

Yes they do. However, getting the results is not easy. Miner is not like Lafayette where many students come 85-99% of the school year. At risk isn’t some magical walk where they are going to get that 30k bonus but what do I know lol. Who knows why she’s leaving.
And it’s nasty she told the LSAT team that, at risk students aren’t just about dollar signs, they are human children.

There is a lot of bashing on this thread. We had a great experience with Dr. B, and wish her well. I sure wish we had someone like her at my daughter’s middle school.

That is Dr. B in a nutshell.

The only thing that they have in common is the mascot.

Many teachers did not like her because she insisted that everything be done in a specific way. If that way works for you, you're fine. If it doesn't, you'll have problems.

I know! Which is why I am nervous as a teacher! I wonder if she’s going to be a principal who blames student tardies and absences on teachers…
Or set crazy standards, or have a set way all teachers need to do things..

Thank you. Guess it’s time to leave, I produce results. My way…with DCPS mandated input lol.

Uh, so those of us considering Lafayette (for a move) what was the issue with her?
