[Washington Post] Ex-Montgomery superintendent McKnight to get $1.3M in separation deal

The elections are 5/14. Harris, Smondrowski, and Evans are the incumbents on the ballot this time around. Vote them out.

Don't pay Montgomery County taxes, but go to Montgomery County Public Schools.

Is this legal?

It is when the BOE approves it, which they did.

In 2021, the non-resident student tuition for MCPS is $16k. Not sure how much it is now.

That's $16k per child per year benefit.

What a slap in the face to mcps teachers.

1. Fire the BOE. There have to be consequences for this appalling, disgraceful charade while teachers bear the brunt of a budget freeze.
2. Make the new BOE full time and properly compensated to oversee a multi billion dollar school system.
2. Create a staff for the BOE as MCPS cannot be trusted to be honest with them.

Elections are 2 months away. Vote them out.

So many people do this though. It's just how things work in MoCo.

I thought MCPS was poor. But seems all our tax dollars go into the legal fund. What a shit show.

Seriously. That is a phenomenal package. I hope this story gets a ton of news coverage, because even MoCo residents who don't have kids in the school system should be irritated by this use of taxpayer funds.

Teacher morale is already so low. This is just going to make it that much worse. Ugh, and our kids will suffer as a result.

There's a reason MCPS finally released the data for the information request on a Friday afternoon....

I’m mad about this. Funds are frozen and we cannot buy any classroom supplies because of the budget shortfall and our office manager keeps screeching that we should not do paper assignments in class because paper is expensive and it turns out MCPS is just blowing through stacks of cash for legal settlements. It is depressing how far MCPS has fallen

A poster on the other previous thread speculated that this amount was to buy the votes of certain BOE members to oust her. I bet my bottom dollar Brenda and Shebra were trying to get her a huge golden parachute (against the best interest of the students and district). They were her rubber stampers.

Time to vote out Shebra and Lynne. I still like Rebecca.

We can't vote them all up because their terms are staggered.

I came to say this. I'm voting against all of them.

But voting out 3 of them is a start...
