No! Don’t be cheap. Stay home if you aren’t going to eat. |
Depends on the setting. Crappy overpriced chain restaurant at the airport during a layover? I’ll appease the kids and let them order what they want- and I might just order a salad and pick at their food. Nothing is all that appealing to me anyway. Going to a restaurant Im looking forward to? No. I order what I want, and may set some limits on the kids. I hate wasting food and not everything reheats well. |
I get appetizers |
Exactly. Eating disorder disguised as being a martyr. |
I don’t think it’s healthy to model eating disorders or martyrdom for children. So no, that doesn’t describe me. |

Eating out with OP sounds like a lot of fun. |
It is rude to take up a seat in a restaurant and not order food. That’s why some restaurants even have a minimum per person |
This is what my husband does. There’s a bit of spending/wasting OCD going on there, even though we don’t actually waste any food, and don’t get take-out too often. |
Yep, this is how to create a lifelong issue with food in your kids. If being a martyr and getting attention is more important than healthy kids, then go for it. If you actually care about your kids, then don't. |
I’ll often order soup or something light then pick at kids meals. Totally a martyr thing but I just can’t stomach the cost of eating out! |

same. |
+1 |
I usually get a salad and pick off their fries and nuggets or whatever they get. I also eat DH entree also. Food portions are way too big in America. |
